Low dose immunotherapy is really just as it sounds. It means using very low dilutions of various antigens that help create immune tolerance. Low dose immunotherapy (LDI) is a wonderful way to address any number of conditions where the immune system is involved. This includes auto-immune diseases and much more.
LDI has provided me with an incredible tool to address sensitivities and allergies to many substances and chronic inflammation as a result of tick-borne disease like Lyme and it’s common co-infections. In addition, there are many other auto-immune conditions that are triggered by a pathogen, or antigen. Low dose immunotherapy is not regulated by the FDA and has not been tested in double-blind randomized studies. Therefore, what follows is a proposed mechanism of action. Please note, beneficial results have been clinically observed in the doctors using this therapy for over 40 years and it is totally safe. There is no risk of an allergic reaction using this type of therapy.
Low dose immunotherapy has the potential to help any chronic condition that is immune-mediated. This is because our immune systems will develop tolerance to substances that are causing a variety of symptoms in sensitive individuals. The tiny amounts of antigens administered will help certain cells in our immune systems, lymphocytes, that regulate the immune response so that we are no longer reactive.
Once the effective dose is found, re-dosing occurs between 6-8 weeks for an indeterminate amount of cycles depending on how well you respond. I have seen some children need only 2-3 doses and adults the range is wider.
